Chasing the Pachyderm(6 Nights/7 Days)
Guruvayur(70km)    Day 1
 
Pick up from Cochin Airport, proceed to Guruvayur. Check in at hotel. GURUVAYUR’ -Dwaraka of south - is one of the most famous Sree Krishna temples in south India. Feel the religious fervour whish is very palpable.
Visit the Guruvayur Devaswom Board`s Punathoor Kota Elephant Sanctuary, which houses 63 elephants. Located 3 km from Guruvayur Temple. Some are in the service of temples and are taken to
participate in temple festivels. To see elephants of different sizes and in their natural mood. Timings 8am- 5pm. Note: you can take bananas for the elephants
Cochin        Day 2
After breakfast drive to Cochin 110km. Enroute visit Cherpu 12 km. from Trichur where you see caraftsmen carving  wood into beautiful elephants, which are of wide reputation.  and visit Anna Kudu in Perambour. Spend some time with the elephants and their care taker to under stand the nature of elephants. You can also enjoy a ride over them, and feel on top of the world. Evening enjoy a sunset cruise on cochin backwaters or go shopping for Kerala sarees and Gold.
Thekkady    Day 3
After breakfast, check out from hotel. Proceed to Thekkady 180km. As you wind your way up the road, the wooded terrain clears to reveal a breathtaking spectacle of rolling tea and cardamom plantations. Fill your lungs with fresh mountain air, savor the rich fragrance of cinnamon and cloves. Thekkady is situated 2800 ft above sea level; the climate is pleasantly cool through out the year. Check in at Hotel.
 
Day - 4

Periyar is Sout  h India’ most popular wildlife sanctuary, spread across 777sq.km of which 360sqkm is thick evergreen forest. This is the only wild life sanctuary in India that offers the unique opportunity of viewing wild life in their natural habitat at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. Enjoy a boat ride in the Periyar lake to watch young elephants drinking at the water’s edge. Timings of boat cruise on the Periyar lake 7am(the best time), 9.30am, 11.30am. 2pm. 4pm.

Take a walk through three different life zones in the course of a day. Move past evergreen, grassland or moist deciduous forests and come across various species of flora and fauna in each forestland. Filled with a different choir of birds. And harboring some of the most fascinating collection of orchids-145 0f them to be precise. A close watch of the trails will also reveal pug marks left by the forest inmates. (7 to 10am, 2 to 5pm) and if you are lucky you see some families of elephants.
House Boat     Day 5
After breakfast check out from hotel, proceed to Alleppey(160 km.) to board the house boat. At 12 noon embark on an exciting 21-hour houseboat cruise and start the long and meandering ride through the unique backwaters of Kerala in a thatched roof houseboat. The houseboat is an improvisation of the large country barges, which were an essential part of the land's ethos in days gone by. The kettuvalloms (houseboats) are comfortably furnished with an open lounge, bath attached bedrooms and a kitchenette, and are extremely eco-friendly. Every houseboat is manned by a crew - chef, guide and oarsman. Winding through the vast expanse of the paddy fields and tiny hamlets and palm fringed narrow canals is an unforgettable experience. Night at the houseboat where you can catch your own fish from the backwaters and ask the chef to fry it. On the Alleppey – Alleppey you can experience the local life styles, traditions and customs, traditional country crafts, boat building sights etc., the House boat will take you throught the narrow canals, where if you wish, you can talk to the locals or can do fishing or buy some fish/prawns from the local market and the chef would cook it for you according to your taste.
Varkala     Day 6
 
Disembark the houseboat at Alleppey after breakfast.Proceed to Varkala(125km). Enroute visit the Elephant camp to see some majestic elephants. Enjoy feeding them and get aquainted and even give a hand in giving them a bath.Check in at hotel. Relax on the beach.
Day - 7

Visit to Janardhana swamy temple, Timings 4am-12, 5-8pm.
Anjengo Near to varkala is the site of the Dutch East India Company’s main garrison, Anjengo Fort. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the fort protected their powerful position in the state. Drive to Trivandrum, drop to Trivandrum railway station/airport
